A Unique Place
in the center of one of the most beautiful cities in Latin America
We spent 5 nights at Casa Eden as part of our honeymoon. The hotel in itself is beautiful and the owner Mario is a great guy ready to help you with tips for things to do in the city and around. I especially loved the beds, very big and comfortable mattress and lovely sheets. It rained a lot the days that we were there, so we enjoyed sleeping in and lounging in the room all morning, couldn’t have imagined a better place to do it! Breakfast was also delicious, with fresh fruits, bread and eggs. I would recommend this any time, the location is also excellent, walking distance to the historic sites of the city. Gracias Mario!
When looking for a hotel or b&b in old part of Quito it seemed like there where two options: extreme luxury in expensive impersonal large hotels or what I would look at as budget options. My wife and I are in our mid thirties and wanted a nice, romantic place with some character and personality. Casa Eden was exactly what we where looking for. Great location in the center of the historic part of the city. What made it better than we expected is the owners/creators/operators Carlos and Blanqui. They helped us find a great guide named Carlos who took us to places most tourist don’t get to visit as well as normal tourist spots like the Cotopaxi Volcano. He was knowledgeable and cared. Carlos and Blanqui did also. The breakfast was simple but good quality. Rooms and property where clean and showed an understated character unique to the city.
Casa El Edén is an extraordinary boutique hotel, run by a remarkable family. The renovation of the property is very impressive, and the proprietors, husband & wife Mario and Blanca were very kind and treated me a member of the family. I celebrated New Year’s Eve with there family and the other guests (the property has only 6 rooms for rental), it was a truly fantastic stay. I really can’t say enough good things! Best place to stay in the Old City of Quito, in my opinion!
Besides the great location and the lovely rooms, the hospitality of Mario and his family really stood out. This casa gives the generic term “home away from home” a whole new meaning – it really was our home for these 3 days. We will clearly go back to Casa El Edén when in Quito!
There are just six spacious rooms in this large old house conveniently located for exploring the old city on foot. As mentioned by other reviewers, the house has been very well restored and the guest rooms feature a good blend of old and new………….the new being the bathroom facilities and the very comfortable bed. Without doubt, though, the stars of Casa El Eden are the hosts Mario and Blanca. Nothing is too much trouble: an early breakfast before departure, organizing for clothes to be laundered, recommendations for restaurants, a bottle of wine to take up to the terrace, etc, etc, etc. These may seem like mundane things but it is the way they were handled by Mario and Blanca that helped to ensure our stay was so memorable. To put it simply, they are charming people.
Considered to be the best preserved colonial-era city center in Latin America, the Centro Historico is the main reason why in 1978 Quito was the first city to be named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is full of secrets to be discovered – Casa El Edén is one of them!
Home to elaborate structures built incolonial and baroquestyle, multigenerational homes turned into museums and restaurants, and cobblestone streets offering centuries-old street food and drinks, the historical part of Quito emerges as a vibrant meeting place where locals and visitors converge.
